WALTHAM FOREST COLLEGE USE TRITEC EQUIPMENT

Waltham Forest College, based in North London, is the latest in a number of educational institutions to adopt TRITEC’s leading fibre installation equipment for practical training and instruction within the engineering and fibre optics environment.

Over 80 students on the HNC Engineering programme and City & Guilds Fibre Optics Installation and Maintenance training course have already benefited from the TRITEC equipment, which includes the FASEKIT (LCD) - a camera version of the TRITEC fusion splicing kit.

Bruce Kelland from Waltham Forest College comments: "It is essential that we use only the very latest equipment on all our courses, as we endeavour to provide the most relevant and up to date theory and practical knowledge to all our students. We chose the TRITEC fusion splicer as it is very user friendly, and is ideal for use within the educational environment. It has an LCD attachment which is equipped to feed into large size monitors, this means that the whole class can view the splice at the same time.

"The TRITEC equipment is also easily transportable and is very cost effective which is a definite advantage over some competing products. Furthermore, the TRITEC fusion splicer is widely used out in the working environment, so students will be well trained on equipment which they may come up against out in the workplace, " Kelland added.

The FASEKIT (LCD) includes the FASE II fusion splicer, the HSO IIc Heatshrink Oven and camera kit, enabling users to view the splicing operation on a 3.8" LCD monitor. The kit also provides a mounting plate, fibre handler and preparation tools – providing a complete splicing solution for Waltham Forest College.

Other educational organisations that have adopted TRITEC technology for training purposes include North Tyneside College and Manchester Metropolitan University.
